It’s all very well talking about our heritage, but where do we cross the line between being faithful to our roots and simply building a heritage centre? What will it take in order to be different?
This video suggests that the church has a problem in handing on the example of discipleship from one generation to the next, and that we need to recover the ability of older generations mentoring the next. How do you think that would affect our ability to build a mission-focussed church?
Warning: the video does couch everything in terms of men and not women, and in British Methodism we do not, of course, associate ourselves with so-called ‘complementarianism’. We are ‘egalitarians’. But despite that potential barrier, evaluate what you think of the argument for mentoring in support of mission.
