The Missional Significance Of The ‘Person Of Peace’

When Jesus sends out seventy of his followers on mission in Luke 10, he tells them,

‘When you enter a house, first say, “Peace to this house.”  If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.  Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. (Verses 5-7)

Various Christians have suggested ideas about the ‘person of peace’. A common theme is that this is a person in whose life God is already at work. It is a person who responds well to Christians from the beginning.

Alex Absalom talks about the importance of finding such a person in Christian mission. Read his article, download his ebook, or listen to his podcast on the subject.
